Finding the perfect replacement for your missing teeth can be a complex process. At Blue Sky Dental, we are proud to offer our patients not only the option to have dental bridges, crowns or partial dentures to replace their teeth; we also offer dental implants. This is the most realistic replacement for missing teeth that is available today.
What are Dental Implants?Dental implants are titanium screws that are surgically placed beneath the gum line to mimic what a natural tooth's roots would be like. The screw is made of material that naturally fuses with your jawbone, giving a secure base for the replacement tooth to rest on and provide your mouth with the function it needs. The replacement teeth can be individual, a bridge or even dentures. The difference with implants is the permanency of the structure, giving your mouth full function, as it would have if you still had your natural teeth.
how dental implants help prevent bone loss.
What is Involved?Dental implant surgery is a multiple step process that takes place over a series of 12 to 18 months. The first step is determining your eligibility for the replacement teeth and whether or not you need additional bone or gum tissue in order to support them. If this is the case, you will need a bone or gum tissue grafting to bulk the area up. Once that heals, the implants are surgically placed below the gum line. This process then takes several months to allow the area to heal. After a few months, sometimes up to 6 months, the area is ready for the posts to be placed on the implants. The post is what holds the crown, bridge or partial dentures in place. Once the post is secured, the replacement teeth are permanently placed in your mouth.
A Beautiful SmileDental implants are custom made to fit not only the size of your mouth, but also to mimic the color and shape of your surrounding teeth. This is done with a customized mold that is then used to create teeth that will look just like your own. Once the procedures are complete, you are left with a healthy, fully functioning set of teeth that allow you to chew, smile and talk with ease.
We welcome any questions or concerns you have about the procedure. Call us today at 503-345-9693 to find out more!
